Plug-ins
Many SongU.com courses use browser plug-ins.  Browser plug-ins add additional capabilities to your browser. For us, they help us maintain a high quality of distance education while keeping our site cutting edge. Nowadays, many of the browser plug-ins below are standard with your browser since they are very common. However, it is possible you may need to download one or more of the plug-ins below (they're free). Often your browser will automatically download any plug-ins required by a particular page, but not always - so it's a good idea to check for sure :-)

AOL Users
If you use America Online (AOL) for Internet access, we recommend the AOL version 6.0 or higher along with the Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher browser. Using earlier versions of AOL may cause difficulty in accessing some of SongU.com's features. Note: Popup windows must be enabled on AOL for SongU.com since SongU.com uses pop-up windows extensively throughout its site for e-learning purposes.

If you do experience problems with the AOL browser, we recommend the following steps:
  1. First, sign on to AOL, but do not click "go to the web."
  2. Minimize the AOL window (there is probably a small icon in the upper right corner of your AOL window which will allow you to minimize it).
  3. Now go to the "Start" menu of your computer, select "Programs", and select "Internet Explorer" or "Netscape Communicator." This will open up a new, "external" browser.
  4. When you open up the browser, type the web address www.songu.com into the address or location bar and hit the "enter" key on your keyboard.
  5. Login to SongU.com as usual.
