Lyrics

Touchdown Jesus

There’s a statue of Jesus on the right side of I-75
Going though southwest Ohio, I’ve passed by it so many times
Made of fiberglass and plastic ,it stood there so big
16,000 pounds, impossible to miss
Arms raised like a referee in a football game
After a scoring play

Chorus:
Touchdown Jesus
I wonder how many people
Have seen your face
And I'm convinced a lot of them
Remember to pray, Maybe even got saved
On that stretch of highway
You made them see what they were missing
And that’s a touchdown, Jesus

Then on a stormy summer night
Someone saw a bolt of lightening strike
The right hand of the statue and word spread fast
People came from miles around
To help out but it burned to the ground

Repeat Chorus

Bridge:
Passers-by found comfort in that statue
They missed him when he was gone
Didn’t take long till there was a new one
Jesus with outstretched arms

Repeat Chorus
