Lyrics
Ain't The Same Town
It's strange coming back here after all this time
This town's become something I hardly recognize
I drove past that old house out on Crescent Lane
There are sure a lot of memories there from my younger days
And the Whistle Stop used to be where we used to go for ice cream
After a big baseball game, we won it all back in 83
But they closed down since they opened up the Dairy Queen
With the drive through window, ain't that a shame?
Chorus:
Everything keeps a changing, just a changing
I guess I ain't the same guy I was back then
But this ain't the same town, ain't my hometown
This ain't the same town I grew up in
Grocery story closed down, they got a Walmart now
That little corner coffee shop is now a used car lot
Trains still roll right through the heart of town on Central Avenue
But they never seem to stop, no wonder why they don't stop
Repeat Chorus
My favorite movie theater is now a Baptist church
The closed down the factory where daddy used to work
Just about everyone I guess finally signed up on the internet
Nobody had heard of it back in 1986
Repeat Chorus twice

They say the more things change
The more they stay the same
I guess that's true
Because nothing's changed between me and you
