EXCUSE ME (CHILDREN'S VERSION)

EXCUSE ME (CHILDREN'S VERSION)
Clare S. / Genre: Childrens / Bluegrass / Tempo: Uptempo
This is a lyric only.

Note to Instructor

No Notes Available
This is a work in progress. I think it will probably be for children around the age of 4-8. I will use some of the melody from the adult version of the song, Excuse Me, but it will not be a bluegrass song. It will be uptempo, major chords. I am thinking in places where there a words like grumpy, angry, upset--there would be a very brief deviation from the uptempo/major chord to a contrast sound (if not entirely minor chords, just notes to emphasize the mood of the words). That would only be brief moments in the song, because I want it to be upbeat, and encouraging for children.
I liked how you emphasized "Please and thank you," in your song both lyrically and musically, and I will follow suit. will be keeping the children's song about 2 minutes in length and it will be an uptempo song.

V1

At the store today

Looking at toys, I want my mom to buy

A big gal pushed, get out of the way

She was so grumpy, I almost cried

She forgot to use her manners

It made me feel upset

I tried to be nice to her

So, she wouldn’t forget

Chorus

Words grownups tell us to say

Excuse me, or excuse me, please

Smile, and maybe walk away

Is so easy, just say excuse me

It feels better when you're polite

V2

Never be mean

Remember to be kind

Use the words, excuse me

When you wanna get by

Excuse me please

Either will be fine

It's a simple way to be nice

If someone acts rude

Or behaves impolitely

No need to fuss or fight

Two small words, will make it alright

Outro

Excuse me, or excuse me please

Either is okay

Excuse me are magic words

It's so easy to say

2023 Version

V1
I was at the store the other day
Just looking at toys, I want mom to buy
A big gal pushed, get out of my way
She was too grumpy to ignore

She forgot to use her manners
And acted angry and upset
I used soft words to calm her
So, she wouldn’t forget

Chorus
Excuse me, or Excuse me please
Is so easy to say
Just say excuse me
Smile and kindly walk away

V2

Remember to be kind
Never be mean
When you wanna get by
Use the words, Excuse Me

Excuse Me Please
Either will be fine
It's a simple way to be kind

If someone acts rude
Or behaves impolitely
No need to fuss or fight
Two small words, will make it alright

Outro
Excuse me, or excuse me please
Either is okay
Excuse me are magic words
That chase the
hurt (bad), (nasty or angry are other options or crummy, gross, icky) feelings away
(bad moments, misunderstandings/fights/arguments/disagreements)
