Light In The Sky

Runnin’ out of Okachobee on 441.
Tryin’ to make Yehaw Junction be-fore tha mornin’ sun.
Headin’ for Atlanta with tomatoes as my load,
Then a turn-around for Tampa with irrigation hose.
Suddenly I’m hit with an awful ghastly light
Comin’ out the sky. It gave me quite a fright.
I think it’s a helicopter, but there isn’t any sound.
Ahead and back the road is clear; there’s no one else a-round.
(Refrain) Light in tha sky, light in tha sky, why did I run into that light in tha sky?
Tha next thing I know two hours has passed.
My tractor’s on the shoulder idlin’ in tha grass.
I’ve got an uneasy feelin’ I’ve been through somethin’ strange;
Vague pieces of memory bouncin’ round inside my brain. (Refrain)
I make it to tha depot ‘bout four hours late.
To make matters worse my load is light by one tomato crate.
I missed my load for Tampa; had to dead-head back home
Checkin’ out tha sky to see if I’m alone. (Refrain)
There’s no moral to my story; it’s just a tale to tell.
But, ever since I seen that light, my life’s been hell.
I have trouble remembering things. ‘S nuthin’ to do with age.
And suddenly, at times, it seems I’m filled with rage. (Refrain)
My wife up an’ left me; said she had to go.
Couldn’t live with me tha way I’d changed. And I guess it’s so.
But ever since I ran into that light in tha sky
I ask myself, what happened to that one damn crate of tomatoes? (Refrain)
