Grandpa worked in a foundry, hot iron all day long
Said when the kids grow up and move away gonna open me up a pool hall
But the black lung got him it was hard to accept
He never saw his dreams and he lived with regret, oh no 

Daddy's a mechanic workin nine to five
Dragging home every day more dead than alive
He dreamed of the track, but doubts held him back
