The yellow sun bathed her corn-silk hair.
Breez-es teased 'round her lemon dress.
Gleaming eyes of green seemed a promised offer-ing:
Her face, her smile, her golden body.


I had a dream and that is all it was
In that space between slumber and reality.
There really was no way I could delay the day,
But her arms held me in her sweet embrace.


When she turned away I knew there was nothing I could do;
I can't go back and start it over.


When I awoke this song was in my mind
Hinting promises for the day.
But they turned into a lie. She never said goodbye.
She released my hand and just slipped away.
