Backstory:
We went to a movie where one of the characters was explaining how he wound up killing a man and it was all because it had rained that day. He said that "if it hadn't rained" he wouldn't be in prison awaiting a death sentence.
Lyrics:
IF IT HADN’T RAINED
(Claire Ulanoff/Jason Blume)
I hope you don’t mind if I
Stand in your doorway and I
Wait ‘til this storm passes by
I’m soaked right to the skin and
I guess you can’t believe it
When the radio says “hot and dry”
These shoes are never gonna be the same
But suddenly I have no complaints
If it hadn’t rained, I bet we would have never
Wound up here together
Oh I sure do love this weather ‘cause
If it hadn’t rained, I wouldn’t be here wonderin’
If that’s my heart or thunder I feel pounding in my veins
Oh, if it hadn’t rained
Thank you for the offer
To lend me your umbrella
Promise that I’ll bring it back real soon
To show my appreciation
I hope you’ll let me be takin’ you out
How ‘bout Sunday afternoon
Is that a rainbow reaching ‘cross the sky
Could this be love or have I lost my mind
(chorus)
When I left for work I never did imagine
I’d be dancin’ in the rain with the puddles splashin’
(chorus)
