Backstory:

Ran into an old high school friend at a pizza carryout one night. He was there with his daughter who was "coming of age." As we talked about how some of the hazards of her entering the dating age, I thought this could be a great song. At first, I titled it "Her First Date." My co-writer, Anita Winters, wisely changed it to "Her First Night Out."

The song received a commendation from the Tennessee Songwriters Association (TSA).
