Backstory:
I had a friend who was having relationship problems, and wanted to find her a real, country cowboy. Not someone who thought they were a cowboy, but was from the city.
Lyrics:
Real Country Cowboy
I been dragged down, ragged out, flat busted,
had my heart worked over by the best of them.
Got fooled by smooth talkin’ men I trusted,
Now I’ve sent ‘em on their way, I put up a fence.
Aint’ gonna be another playboy by my side,
Want a good man, one I know won’t roam.
Yeah, I went and got wise, now I realize,
I need a real, country cowboy all my own.
(Cho) Don’t want no picture window, greenhorn again.
This time I’m gonna find me a genuine,
horse ridin, pickup drivin’, hangs around ‘til the sun comes up,
a stands tall beside me when the times get rough,
Real Country Cowboy, kind of man.
Need a fits right, hangs tight, dreamy eyes,
man riddin’ true love in the saddle with me.
Ain’t no cityfied cowboys dressed up in lies,
could ever be the kind of man I need.
It’s gonna take a country reared, God fearing, man,
before I’ll hand my heart back over again.
The kind that knows what I like, who I am;
the kind that cares and wants to understand.
(Repeat Cho)
(Bridge) A real cowboy knows who he is, he can see,
he ain’t still tryin’ to figure out who he should be.
(Repeat Cho)
A Real Country Cowboy,
I need me, a Real, Country Cowboy,
