BRIDGE OF ROSES (revised)
Writers: Barbara Robinson & Pete Papageorge
VERSE 1
Mother's heart made her cry in pain
As she called her out husband's name
She reminisced about the good old days
With her and Dad at their favorite place
A place that only a few would know
Of which she spoke in a voice that broke
CHORUS
How I love that Bridge of Roses
Where thousands of wild blossoms bloom
Throw my ashes in the river
We'll be together in love's perfume
VERSE 2
Mother said where the roses grow
Was the place Dad kneeled to propose
She had his funeral at the bridge's side
Where long ago Dad had been baptized
She wished they'd had so many more days
But she could still find the way to say
CHORUS
How I love that Bridge of Roses
Where thousands of wild blossoms bloom
Throw my ashes in the river
We'll be together in love's perfume
BRIDGE
When she passed away last night
I dreamed I saw her at the bridge
And with Dad standing by her side
As the sun came over the ridge
CHORUS
How I love that Bridge of Roses
Where thousands of wild blossoms bloom
Throw my ashes in the river
We'll be together in love's perfume
Throw my ashes in the river
We'll live forever in love's perfume
