Light A Candle

V1
Opened my eyes and felt pain inside my head
Threw off the covers and told myself
I will be starting this day with peace and
Gratitude I woke up and have another day
I chose to make this day amazing
So I light it bright to show me the way

Ch
Light a candle for you
I woke to the news that
More people died senselessly
One on the ground eight seconds down
Another shoot in the back seven times
I won’t live with hate I choose to forgive
Kneel down on my knee
And I light a candle for my brothers and me

V2
Tears rolled down my check
I’m looking at your picture in the kitchen
With that silly grin on your face
Missing you with every fiber on my being
So many thing remind me of you
Praying I’ll see you in Paradise- another time another life

Pre
Watching the smoke from the candle disappear
It remind me of you
So I will light a candle in remembrance of you

Ch
Light a candle for you
I woke to the news that
More people of color died senselessly
One on the ground eight seconds down
Another shoot in the back seven times
I won’t live with hate I choose to forgive
Kneel down on one knee
And I light a candle for my brothers and me

Outro:

For all the mothers who worry if their child will come home safe
For all the fathers who now doubt their holy faith
For all the people living in deep fear
For the politicians who listen but don't ever hear
For all those who choose between a gun and a knife
For the children not knowing there's a better life
For all the voices that yell but are never heard
For the last in line who never get the last word
For all the justice that felt like a slap in the face
For all the people dream of an entirely new place
For all the scars that apologies just can't erase
For all the hope that fades like smoke above
For all the lovers who gave up on love

We hold a candle for you
We hold a candle for you
We hold a candle for you (softer, and fade)
