I'm a Vietnam combat veteran and I expressed how we felt coming home.

We answered the call of our country

Most of us went to Vietnam
On a year long tour
Didn't know for what we'd see and do
There'd never be a cure

Nobody welcomed us home
Or thanked us for having served
We got caught up in a buzzsaw

Suffered through every hardship
That war can do to a man
For those of us who made it through
Headed back with no set plan
All we wanted was to come home
And start a new life
But what we encountered
Was a nation mired in strife
