It personally took me many years of living and struggling to realize what really matters in this life. For me, this song tells the story of the simple, good things that are still alive, if only in our hearts.

I usually write family songs or love songs, about small town life, like being "firmly rooted in love, in this place that we call home."

Lyrics

Firmly Rooted
Writers: Bob Love/Alan Muller

Verse My daddy traveled in the navy, but this is where we’d stay he had grown up not too from where we live today Grandpa put down roots here many years ago With love and family, small town values took hold

Chorus I’ve called this place home longer than some folks have been alive I’ve called her mine ever since we both learned how to drive High school sweethearts, lifetime lovers, this is where we’ll be from now on can’t be disputed, we’re firmly rooted, in love, in this place that we call home

Verse Our kids go to the same schools with the same dreams too We feed love’s passion from where our hearts all grew it thrives on joy and laughter from the life we live From grandma and grandpa to the raising of the kids

Chorus I’ve called this place home longer than some folks have been alive I’ve called her mine ever since we both learned how to drive High school sweethearts, lifetime lovers, this is where we’ll be from now on can’t be disputed, we’re firmly rooted, in love, in this place that we call home

Verse We used to play on the hill where the water tower stands We still go to the same parks and we still hold hands When we walk through this old town we see change this love of ours is growing strong, it still remains

Bridge Fireworks on the 4th, the birthdays and the Christmas parade the family times at home where timeless memories are made

Chorus I’ve called this place home longer than some folks have been alive I’ve called her mine ever since we both learned how to drive High school sweethearts, lifetime lovers, this is where we’ll be from now on can’t be disputed, we’re firmly rooted, in love, in this place that we call home
