Backstory:
Americans love the sense of adventure that is kept alive through Western Movies and idols. Remnants of the Wild West still exist in the Cowboy Spirit. Music, Vocals & Production by William Sherry, and Lyrics by Clare Steffen. John Wayne and Clint Eastwood didn't agree on how to best represent the cowboy of the Old West, but both were loved by the American People.
Lyrics:
V1
An idol on the big screen
John Wayne left his mark
On the cover of Life magazine
Our imagination would spark
Bridge
He played a hero,
A tried and true cowboy
V2
The cowboy was a lonely man
In the eyes of Clint Eastwood
Violence was part of the plan
When the days got dark
Bridge
John and Clint might have disagreed
About the cowboy image
But nonetheless
Chorus
Americans feel the spirit of pride
In their Western heritage
It took a lot of courage
To overcome their fears
But together they would ride
Beyond the river's edge
Rounding up their steers
V3
Whether outlaw or lawman
Cowboys blazed the trail
Knowing as they rode across the land
One will succeed where many will fail
Bridge
Not too many words were needed
For the cowboy to get their point across
Chorus
Americans feel the spirit of pride
In their Western heritage
It took a lot of courage
To overcome their fears
But together they would ride
Beyond the river's edge
Rounding up their steers
Outro
Long live the cowboy spirit
Americans sure love that cowboy spirit
