    Backstory:
The funny thing about feelings is that they have a way of changing. We can block them or acknowledge them, but either way, they are going to show up and affect our relationships. A secondary casualty is the fallout when the relationship ends and one of them is going to be the one who feels they are left feeling devastated. It is a question of which one of them is going get their heart broken, and be the secondary casualty. This song is part of the Round The Globe Project, Lyrics by Clare Steffen, with Music, Vocals, and Production by Paul DeMarco.

    Lyrics:

V1 You blocked out your feelings And I bumped into mine A secondary casualty Was just a matter of time  V2 I could of kept’em hidden But that wouldn’t have been kind Lies are forbidden, But You know that love ain’t blind Chorus This wouldn’t be the first time We tried to pretend We could make this rhyme Hold on to the bitter end Just a secondary casualty Your heart or mine  Secondary casualty V3 The sweet sound of your voice Will sure start to fade I gotta make a choice And not just make a trade V4 I don’t wanna look back And think what might’ve been We can’t rewind and hit play  And start over again Chorus This wouldn’t be the first time We tried to pretend We could make this rhyme Hold on to the bitter end Just a secondary casualty For your heart or mine  Secondary casualty Umh, umh, umh, umh Umh, umh, umh, umh Umh, umh, umh, umh Umh, umh, umh, umh V5 I could have run out fast And be long gone before the dawn Or we could fool ourselves And make believe the past is gone Chorus This wouldn’t be the first time We tried to pretend We could make this rhyme Hold on to the bitter end Just a secondary casualty Your heart or mine  Your heart or mine  Secondary casualty
