Alan, this is a scratch recording done with a friend, who sadly suffers from depression (you can hear it in his performance). He normally is a very good pianist, but you can't tell here. The melody stays in a very narrow range, which is a problem. Anthony also strays from the lyrics and adlibs in some ways that don't always work. I think there could be something here worth developing, but I was hesitant to go back to William out of concern that it might get overproduced. I don't know if you have anyone to recommend who might be a good choice and wouldn't charge an arm and a leg, or who might just be looking for a co-write. Anthony would be listed on the co-wrote but wouldn't need to be involved because I wouldn't feel right excluding him.
