The reference to "We see through a glass darkly," can be found in the First Epistle in Paul's letters to the Corinthians, in the New Testament. In the context of this song we are reminded that if we try to avoid truths that can be hard to face, our vision will be clouded and imperfect. We can go through life avoiding truth, and honesty. Sometimes we misunderstand the sensitive individuals who are brave enough to see past that which we fear and seek authenticity. Paul reminds us that in the next life, with God, we will be able to see that which is obscured or what we don't understand in the present life.
