Backstory:
I wrote this song after hearing the line in a movie "loving you with my eyes closed", and being a Roy Orbison fan I wanted to write a song that Roy would sing.
Lyrics:
I think it’s time, time to end this masquerade
Of pretending we’re okay
Waiting just deepens the pain
Putting off facing the shame
Shame on me for loving you with my eyes closed so tight
Shame on you for letting me think everything’s alright
You should have told me, I should have seen
Shame on you, shame on me
I can’t believe you let me learn from our friends
You’re not really over him
Making me look like a fool
Breaking my blind heart in two
Shame on me for loving you with my eyes closed so tight
Shame on you for letting me think everything’s alright
You should have told me, I should have seen
Shame on you, shame on me
Even if I’d known it all would end
I’d still love you all over again
Shame on me for loving you with my eyes closed so tight
Shame on you for letting me think everything’s alright
You should have told me, I should have seen
Shame on you, shame on me
You should have told me, I should have seen
Shame on you, shame on me
