Backstory:
Elephants are classified as endangered and there are only 40,000-50,000 left in the wild. They are very intelligent and social animals and need us to help protect them from poachers who kill them for their ivory. This Round The Globe song was co-written by Isaac Onanuga (Nigeria) and Clare Steffen (USA). Performed by Isaac Onanuga. Mathew May, Producer.
Lyrics:
V1
Those who forget the past
Are doomed to repeat it
Poaching is killing us way too fast
Can you please make them quit?
V2
Ivory is not an ornament
We need it to survive
So do what you can to prevent
Them from taking our lives
Chorus
Please help protect our families
We feel strong and deep emotions
When one of us is lost or hurt
Our grief is inconsolable
Elephants hear sound frequencies
Humans have no notion
When they think they are the expert
Force makes wild animals controllable
V3
We always want to go home
We were not meant to be your pet
Just let us be free so we can roam
And not live under a constant threat
Bridge
We never forget
Chorus
Please help protect our families
We feel strong and deep emotions
When one of us is lost or hurt
Our grief is inconsolable
Elephants hear sound frequencies
Humans have no notion
When they think they are the expert
Force makes wild animals controllable
Outro
Elephants never forget
We never forget
Never forget
