Backstory:
NOLA is a place people love to visit year-round because there is always music in the air. It is especially magical at Christmastime. This Nashville Country song was co-written by William Sherry and Clare Steffen and was performed by Sandi Kight. (I also have a piano--Billy Joel-style version of the song, co-written with Anthony Prezio).
Lyrics:
V1
Bourbon Street is wrapped up in a bow
It’s the time of year, everything’s aglow
Jazz sounds are still floating in the air
But they have a Christmas vibe and cheer
V2
Trains are coming in from everywhere
People like to spend their holiday here’
Cause it’s a special place, this time of year
Celebration is in the atmosphere
Chorus
Our parishes are strong
Our people have survived
It’s called The Big Easy
All of us down here know
How to appreciate life
And do Christmas NOLA-style
We’re a melting pot of cultures
Mardi Gras is always near
Come and do Christmas NOLA-style this year
V3T
he Mississippi will call
It stretches far and wide
The Gulf will warm you
Open arms invite you to do
Christmas NOLA style
Chorus
Our parishes are strong
Our people have survived
It’s called The Big Easy
All of us down here know
How to appreciate life
And do Christmas NOLA-style
We’re a melting pot of cultures
