Backstory:
With the passing of one of my songwriting heroes, J.D. Souther, I sat down and finished writing a song that I had started back in the 70's. It was during that era that I was greatly influenced by the hits J.D. was writing for The Eagles. Since I also love country blues, I thought to myself "what might J.D. come up with if he was pitching to Chris Stapleton". This song is the result.
Lyrics:
Sunshine woman the morning will see you rise
You can make the world seem so much brighter and free
Sunshine woman when I look into your eyes
Burns away the blues and sorrow inside of me
I’m all alone inside myself
And when I cry no one notices
The pain and all the tears
It’s so plain I need you here
Sunshine woman
Oh sunshine girl
Sunshine woman something in the way you smile
Reaches out inside my mind and stops the rain
Sunshine woman won’t you sit with me awhile
I’m in love with you and I don’t even know your name
I’m all alone inside myself
And when I cry no one notices
The pain and all the tears
It’s so plain I need you here
Sunshine woman
Oh sunshine girl
Oh sunshine girl
Sunshine woman something in the way you smile
Reaches out inside my mind and stops the rain
Sunshine woman won’t you sit with me awhile
I’m in love with you and I don’t even know your name
I’m in love with you and I don’t even know your name
I’m in love with you and I don’t even know your name
