Backstory:
This is a song that I am working on, and have only created an AI demo until I complete the lyrics and find the right artist. There are no dynamics in the song yet, I plan to have it be a little more uptempo, and to have have a build to the chorus which will be preceded by an anthem/chant as the pre-chorus. Of course not all are fortunate enough to win the battle against cancer, but this song is focused on reclaiming health and uniting in that cause.
This is a very specific type of song based that has historical meaning, and could be used in fundraising walks, etc. I did a little research on the history behind the pink ribbon, and it was tied to a woman fighting cancer (initially it was peach ribbon) until Estee Lauder got behind the fundraising effort (pink ribbon). Pink was the most popular shade of lipstick. They basically said pink is the essential pretty color, and it is everything that cancer is not. I loosely incorporated this story into the song, but mostly I focused on the concept of the battle cancer patients go through. I wanted to emphasize that they are more than their illness, and more than survivors--that they thrive and go on to fight for others who battle cancer. I added the idea of the chant and I think this lyric has both depth and simplicity so it could possibly work. I think the basic bones of the song are there to work with going forward.
Lyrics:
V1
We've shed a pool of tears
Overcame our fears
We've fought and we are strong
We keep holding on
V2
We've done more than survive
There's more to life to claim
So, many reasons to thrive
Illness will not be our name
Chant/Pre-chorus
Pink is pretty
Cancer's not!
Pink is pretty
Cancer's not!
Chorus
We've walked the highest hill
To get to the other side
Sisters everywhere will
Wear pink to symbolize
We're free, of yes, We're free
V3
Our battle has been won
But we continue to fight
For those whose journey isn't done
So their future will be bright
Chorus
We've walked the highest hill
To get to the other side
Sisters everywhere will
Wear pink to symbolize
We're free, of yes, We're free
(Fade Out/Chat)
Pink is pretty
Cancern's not!
Pink is pretty
Cancer's not!
