Backstory
I wanted to write a song about two people who meet in a bar, perhaps not a very nice one, and almost immediately fall, and stay, in love.
Lyrics
The Bar They Call Delight
by Julian Harvey
(Verse 1)
The bar was packed, the noise was loud
It was just a crazy crowd
Puttin' down my glass o' beer
Said "I'm gettin' outta here"
I could hardly even move
Then I bumped smack into you
(Chorus)
We stood real close, eye to eye
Felt I'd known you all my life
When the place closed at two
We were as one, me and you
It was love at first sight
In The Bar They Call Delight
(Verse 2)
On the spot we got along
Words and music in a song
We were last to pay the bill
Stayed together always will
How could you and I forget
The dingy dive where first we met?
(Chorus)
We stood real close, eye to eye
Felt I'd known you all my life
When the place closed at two
We were as one, me and you
It was love at first sight
In The Bar They Call Delight
(Bridge)
We drive to that bar
Every now and again
We always feel
Like we did
Way back then
(Instrumental Break)
(Chorus)
We stood real close, eye to eye
Felt I'd known you all my life
When the place closed at two
We were as one, me and you
It was love at first sight
In The Bar They Call Delight
(Outro)
The Bar They Call Delight
Delight
Delight
