I have played classical piano for many years and flute for not as many years. I have a CD out on the Centaur label which is available on the streaming services. The music on the CD is not pop music but is instead simply music I felt like writing at the time and which received fairly good recorded performances. I am not familiar with very much contemporary pop music which could be a curse or a blessing. I recently wrote many cabaret songs for a university show so I thought let's give pop a try!

Influences I would have to say everything I have ever heard. Having said that, I have been trying to write in a style that seems similar to many of the songs you hear at the moment.

LET US ALL BE MERRY

Backstory

This piece was originally written for a local men's Christmas singing group. The words were adapted from a poem by George Wither who lived from 1588 to 1667. The words are therefore in the public domain. I have recently started hearing the song as being sung mostly in unison by a pop (perhaps country, perhaps Celtic) male group. To that end I created a new accompaniment and changed the words some more, while trying to keep as much of the original flavor as possible.

Backstory

I kept saying "Yikers Bikers" so I thought I would make a song out of it. Also, many years ago I used to drive past a restaurant with many, many bikes outside of it.

Backstory

Has anybody ever written a song about Christmas lights? While I was cooped up during the first Covid Christmas I spent a lot of time looking out the window and what did I see? Christmas lights! So I wrote this song.
