BEER, A LOVE STORY
Beer (A Love Story)
I met a tall brown slender beauty, back in high school, at a party my Senior year
She filled me with courage, erased all my worries, made me feel like I had no fear
She followed me to college where I got the knowledge to tap into her keg
I learned the art of filling up a red solo cup so she gives me the perfect head
She makes me believe I can do anything
When I’m holding her right next to me
All it takes is a beer, from her first tinglin’ touch to a little bit buzzed
All it takes is a beer, to ease the edge off my day when enough’s been enough
I love how her suds taste on my lips, from her sweet welcome home kiss
All it takes is a beer, for this love story all it takes is a beer
It’s probably obvious, my girls loveliness, comes brewed and bottled up
Her sex appeal comes through dressed in a microbrew, but I still love her in red label Bud
She gets along with my friends, don’t ask where I been, always waiting on me
Whispers nice and soft, when I pop her top off, says she’s gonna give me what I need
This lifelong affair has been so comforting
For all these years, she’s been putting me at ease
CHORUS
Some nights we go way too far, I get drunk on her love
In the morning I’m reminded of, what too much of her loving does

BREATHE YOU IN
Breathe You In
When we’re skin to skin, I feel so alive
You're like the atmosphere I need to survive
The oxygen for the blood in my veins
That’s pumping through my heart like a high speed train
I’ve got my own way to explain this
Cause the one thing I cannot change is
I need to breathe you in
Over and over and over, again and again
I need to breathe you in
You’re the air I crave the sweetest scent
I need to breathe you in
Till the day we met, I felt out of place
Like living in the vacuum of outer space
Artificial life support, was all I knew
But when I found you, I discovered the truth
You’re a gentle breeze, the perfect wind
Filling up my sails, replacing my emptiness
I need to breathe you in
Over and over and over, again and again
I need to breathe you in
You’re the air I crave the sweetest scent
I need to breathe you in
I need to breathe you in --- END ---

THREADS
Threads
Tali Ettlinger & Mitch Collins
V1:
I can still hear the porch boards creaking under Grandma’s rocking chair
Where she’d mend the knees on my old blue jeans when they’d wear out and tear.
Speaking softly as she sewed, she’d say our lives are like these clothes
The patches and stitches we bear, mark the pain we have known.
Chorus:
(She'd talked ‘bout)
Threads, mending us when we’re in shreds,
Healing us as we move ahead,
The strength is in our threads.
V2:
When life feels in pieces I search for strands to make me whole
A bible verse, a friend’s kind words, a mountain view to soothe my soul.
But Grandma taught me how to find the finest fibers deep inside
Cords of courage, faith and will to guide me through my darkest times.
Chorus:
Threads, mending us when we’re in shreds,
Healing us as we move ahead,
The strength is in our threads
Bridge:
Now I’m sitting in her rocking chair holding on…
...to a patchwork quilt that she made as my fingers move along those..
Repeat Chorus

TILL CRAZY LOVES YOU BACK
Till Crazy Loves You
Friday night at Wheelies, working on feeling, good
When she walks through the door
Mesmerizing blue eyes, blonde hair, sweet thighs,
Smoking hot like a forty-four
Tapped the guy next to me, said, yeah, she’s a beauty
Can tell you’re looking to score
But before you go there, man you better beware
Of what she has in store
Been there, done that, bought the shirt and ball cap, you’re just wasting your time
You’ll lose sleep walking the floor; even feel like you’re losing your mind
You’re better off sitting right here and having a shot of Jack
Cuz crazy might look good till crazy loves you back
That girl’s gonna tell you, how much she’d like to
Have a key to your place
Then (she’ll) leave a copy of bride magazine
on the table while you’re away
Then start talking ‘bout our joint bank account
How she wants to change her name
(And how she want a credit card, also a brand new car)
(Then start asking bout a new car and credit cards)
Then start asking you to get her a credit card
Your life’s never gonna be the same
The cover of the book looks good, but the pages are better left unread
You don’t judge a book by the cover, she ain’t easy to read
That book doesn’t have any pages if you know what I mean

TAG YOU'RE IT
Tag You’re It
Boy, so you know, I like to play
I am the kind of girl who loves the chase
I’ve been looking out, for someone fun
Ready, set, go, get your game on, let’s run
I’m supersonic, gonna get you, yeah I’m comin’
Just like a rocket, closing in
Anticipating the moves you’re makin’, I ain’t gonna miss
Your lips, with my kiss, just like this, tag, you’re it, oh tag, you’re it
Girl, so you know, I hit the brakes
Cuz’ getting caught by you has made my day
Now it’s my turn and I play for keeps
On your mark, let’s start, on the count of three, 1, 2, 3..
Hide and seek, I found you,
Simon says,make your move,
Duck, duck, duck...you’re the one I choose,
Yeah, you’re the one I choose

SKIN
Skin
Your Skin feels that..
Wise guy, fist fight, sucker punch, black eye
skateboard, too fast, Devil’s Hill, road rash
Cherry flavored first kiss, stealing one from her lips,
All day, bailin hay callouses and back break
Stitched up, burned, scraped or weathered
It still holds us all together
Oh yeah, your skin
It’s gotta be thick
cause life can get under (hold out) it
And Rodeo tough
but never lose
Its sense of touch
No matter what it looks like
or where it’s been
it’s best to be blue jean comfortable in
your own skin
You might hear you’re
Too strange, rearrange, fit the mold, gotta change
But never hide what’s inside, show it off, take pride
Mohawk, faith walk, tattoos, straight talk
Stay true, push through, keep on being you
fits you like a glove, if you let it
don’t shed your style, if the world don’t get it
(repeat chorus)
We all got some in the game
This crazy kaleidoscope parade
Your skin’s gotta be thick cause life can get under it
Rodeo tough but not lose its sense of touch
No matter what it looks like or where it’s been
it’s best to be broke in, blue jean comfortable in your own skin
In your own skin
Go on get comfortable in your own skin

END OF THE LINE
END OF THE LINE
There's a little creek off of round pond road
With a tackle box and a old Zebco
Kicked back on that ol' Georgia pine
Another Saturday to relax and unwind
Wearing my daddy's John Deere hat
He remembers all the talks they had
When suddenly that reel starts to whine
And he starts thinking about the end of the line
At the end of the line you get what you get
Some you remember, some you forget
Fishing like life, (son) you can't rewind
You get what you get at the end of the line
Ten years later my son’s first catch
A little brim, so we threw it back
He says Dad, are they all that size
And he looks down and says with a smile
You don't always get what you're searching for
But life is it's own reward

SHE'S MY CHRISTMAS LIST
She’s My Christmas List
Nancy Blandford, Amy Carlock, Mitch Collins
VERSE 1
Dear Santa, do you remember all those crazy things
I’ve had on my Christmas lists, that you did not bring
Like that classic ‘67 convertible corvette
Or a private island of my own, where I'd land on my Learjet
Now Santa, this year I’m begging, please don’t let me down
Cuz I’ve met the woman of my dreams she’s all I think about
CHORUS
She’s the jingle, jingle, jingling, ringing my bell
Yeah, the tingle, tingle, tingling, I need this Noel
So while you’re out Chris Kringling, don’t forget my wish
She’s the only thing I want, she’s my Christmas list
VERSE 2
I know you cannot leave her under my tree
Maybe she's been asking for a country boy like me
Please use your Santa magic before ho, ho, hoing, home
I don’t wanna be all by myself beneath the mistletoe
Santa come Christmas morning, I don’t know what's in store
But I hope I hear her knock, knock, knocking, knocking at my door
CHORUS
She’s the jingle, jingle, jingling, ringing my bell
Yeah, the tingle, tingle, tingling, I need this Noel
So while you’re out Chris Kringling, don’t forget my wish
She’s the only thing I want, she’s my Christmas list
BRIDGE
I wake up to the sound of reindeer on my roof
I run down all I find's a brand new pair of boots
To my surprise tucked inside I find her Christmas list
On every line my name is all that's written down on it
Chorus
(last time) She’s all I want, she’s my Christmas list --- END ---

48 HOUR FIX
48 Hour Fix
Verse one
Blue collar rat race, hitting walls, running this maze-
Working on a 5-day headache
Need a coffee strong and black, morning jolt to get me jacked
Been jonesin' bad so glad it's Friday
I'll bust my butt, all day long, till the last tock on the time clock, then I’m gone
Chorus
Getting amped for a weekend rush, from a drug I love called living it up
‘Round here most anything goes till the workday rooster crows
I’ll find my feel good and put it on, a binge on a buzz marathon
That two day trip, always does the trick, it's my 48 hour fix...48 hour fix
Verse two
Cold cans in Koozies, Netflix and chill, a hot jacuzzi
Me and my babe reconnecting
Midnight brings a few old friends with PBR so we let em' in
Then get that outlaw country crankin'
I can’t help this high I'm cravin, I admit I’m addicted, to a little hell raisin'
There ain’t nothing wrong with taking a hit off life’s good stuff
Chorus

SECOND LUCKIEST MAN
SECOND LUCKIEST MAN
VERSE
You remind me of your mother, the day we said I do
All grown up in your wedding dress, but still I picture you
In plastic high heels, holding daisies, always acting like a bride
I'd grin when miss five year old serious, said Daddy come stand by my side
CHORUS
Every moments we shared live inside my heart
Decorating my life, like finger painted works of art
There at the end of the aisle, I will slowly let go of your hand
Then give my blessing to the worlds second luckiest man
VERSE
Barbie dolls and crayons gave way to make and calling boys
Teenage awkward changed to a young lady with charm and poise
Broken curfews turned into talking bout trust and love and life
You'd kiss my cheek, say daddy I love you, man, I'm gonna miss those times
CHORUS
BRIDGE
I'll spin you one last time as we dance
The tears might fall when I raise my glass
To toast the future, touch on the past
Sweetheart, the years flew by way to fast
CHORUS

JEEPS ARE FOR GIRLS
Jeeps Are For Girls
Verse:
I was showing of my roll bars, doors off, topless
Stuck at the red in a one stop light metropolis
Revving for a back road, rock crawl Saturday
A little traction action climbing boulder stairways
Then a Romeo rolls up, puts his mouth in overdrive
Whistles at my Wrangler and yells, hey, do you need a man to handle that sweet ride
So I said….
Chorus:
Silly boy, oh no (no no), this jeep’s for girls
I’ll give ya shotgun, but hold on hun, so ya don’t get hurt
Cuz I play rough when I’m rolling in the dirt
Silly boy, then you’ll know know know jeeps are for girls
Verse:
Fender flares and lift kits, pink camo bucket seats
My kind of fashion’s from an Off Road Magazine
I’m a daredevil spitfire triple A deputized
A two inch tow chain is how I accessorize
Oh yeah I’m independent just like my suspension
But I must admit I kind of like when I get a little head turning attention
Repeat Chorus:
Bridge:
Might let ya spot me so I don’t break an axle, or bust open my brand new differential
But don’t get it in your mind , cause there’s no way I’ll ever let you drive…
Repeat Chorus:

PUT YOUR CRAZY ON
PUT YOUR CRAZY ON
Friday night same old same old
Eating supper with the tv on
Sitting on the couch want to keep it fresh
So I light up that phone with a sexy text
She looks over smiles at me
Says I'm right here baby what do you need
I say that little black dress, those high heel shoes
That take you walking on the wild side, set you loose
Put your cra cra crazy on, it gets me going
Then I'll take take take you anywhere you want
Every step step you take gives me a heart attack
Its ooh la la in the front and oh my god in the back
You look so good, feel so right
Like a million bucks, you're outta sight.
Put your crazy on, put your crazy on
We hit club Deja Vu to show off some moves
I was getting into it, yeah coming unglued
She winked at me said I like you this way
Now turn around so I can see that sway
Solo
Put your crazy on, put your crazy on, put your crazy on
Let's take this home so we can take it off
Under the sheets yeah we're gonna get lost

UNDERTOW
UNDERTOW
Like a fruit tree .. in the mountain air
Though buds may bloom .. no fruit it bares
A warm day’s sun .. a lie it tells
When darkness falls .. a frozen veil
Falls over all .. the lies sun told
Puts to death .. promises sold
Come morning sun .. come take my pain
That flows beneath .. my flowered face
I died tonight .. on mountainside
On frozen hills .. laid down my life
If you think about me pull a blanket high up on your chest
Turn the music up and let the singers lyrics do the rest
Yeah, carry you away to where your soul can tumble free
Cause the undertow will drag you to a place, you cannot breathe
I sit and wait .. on table sawn
For seasons' change .. on gardens' lawn
Death releases .. spring birds song
Calls to life .. idle minions
Fills the earth .. with tapestry
Colors bold .. and harmony
But no hues .. will my eyes see
If there is sound .. it dies with me
And brightest light .. on clearest morn
Draws back into .. the winter storm
Chorus
When the last grain of sand falls through the hourglass
And time surrenders her last breath
I'll gaze into the emptiness .. to catch a glimpse of you

DRINKING FROM A WELL
DRINKING FROM A WELL
(v1)
I was living like a gypsy in this dusty barren land
Tryin’ to quench my emptiness with all the ways of man
Fillin up my bucket with ev’ry earthly lie
From waters of temptation that never satisfy
(v2)
Lost within the ever shifting sands of a mirage
I reached up in desperation for the hand of God
He drew His forgiveness from an everlasting spring
And offered up salvation in a mercy cup to me
Chorus
I’m drinking from a well that I couldn’t dig
Drinking from a well because of what God did
I believed, received, I’m sanctified
Drinking from a well that don’t run dry
Drinking from a well that don’t run dry
(v3)
Now, my soul finds refreshment in His living word
Sippin’ on the wisdom, of each chapter and verse
By his ever flowing grace I have been redeemed
And the only thing I thirst for is what he wants for me
CHORUS
Bridge:
Oh, Abba Father
Oh, find in me
Streams of heav’nly hallelujah
That only your holy water brings
That only your holy water brings

BY HEART
By Heart
My old faithful, first name John last name Deere
We memorized these fields we’ve worked through the years
Dirt soaks up my sweat like a sweet summer rain
This farm is in my blood and home-grown’s in my veins
Grandpa built the house where I took my first steps
Behind the barn, I smoked my first and last cigarette
Broke my pitching arm in that oak tree out back
Our favorite fishing hole caught my tears when I lost dad
Chorus
This place knows me by heart, it’s heard the laughter
Felt the pain in every scar, wrote all the chapters
Each page bookmarked, yeah, this place knows me by heart
These walls ‘ve heard me cuss underneath my breath
The floorboards by my bed know every prayer I’ve said
Front porch saw me stumble through my first kiss
Now it holds a swing that gently rocks my wife and kids
Chorus
Bridge
When I’m laid in the grave, want my headstone to say
“He found his quiet comfort here”, right here

WATERED DOWN WHISKEY
Watered Down Whiskey
They come rolling into town thinking they’re all that
Wearing skinny jeans and a flat billed hat
Claiming to be country cause they sing a few songs
But don't know any Hank, Whitley, Haggard or Jones
Watered down whiskey won’t get a man drunk
What they’re calling new country ain't nothing but junk
I know what I’m saying might be a little risky
But pop in country’s like watered down whiskey
I’m gonna play my country at a hundred proof
A Nashville rebel just raising the roof
A double shot of steel makes me think of the greats
Like ole’ Alan Jackson and the King George Strait
Chorus
I'm not saying I’m right and they’re wrong
I’m just saying what they’re playing ain't country at all

DON'T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF
Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff
© Mitch Townley/Mitch Collins
You’re on your break, yeah, it’s lunch time
The DMV has a long line
You’re running way, way behind
And your boss is in a real bad mood
The traffic back is like molasses
And you’re ‘bout to blow a gasket
Don’t let it put you in a casket
Count to ten and take a breath or two
Chorus:
Don’t sweat the small stuff
Little things that you can’t change
Don’t sweat the small stuff
Get the whistle back in your day
You open up your visa statement
See a charge for a late payment
And after calling in complaining
You find you overpaid your water bill....oops
You fuss and fume, call yourself stupid
Wonder what drugs you were doing
You’re not an idiot just human
We screw up and we always will
Repeat Chorus

There’s only. roughly 79 , years in a hypothetical life
And if you’re ever gonna get to that
You’ve gotta cut yourself a lot of slack

MISTLETOES CHRISTMAS KISS
Mistletoe, an elf who knows
Wrapping gifts and tying bows
Seals them with a festive kiss
Full of love and happiness
Born with her own specialty
Christmas mornings magically
Bring joy to all when she gives
Mistletoe's Christmas Kiss
Mistletoe had never dreamed
To wrap or kiss anything
Always thought a workshop elf
Would be her job, nothing else
But when she graduated from
Santa's school for elves
Santa said, you'll be sealing gifts
With Mistletoe's Christmas Kiss
She bowed her head to hide the tears
But Santa is wise in his years
Look in here, he said to her
This magic snow globe shows the future
Mistletoe saw the scene
A happy family 'round the tree
Because she gave her special kiss
One by one to every gift
Laughed then ran to join her friends
Excited to begin
Sealing presents and spreading bliss
With Mistletoe's Christmas Kiss
So, when you first glimpse,
The tree and the gifts
Remember this feeling is
Mistletoe's Christmas Kiss

Check the Map
V1
I’ve never been one to follow directions
The joy in the journey is my only destination
No need to plan, I just hit the open road
Let the wind point the way and away I’ll go
CHORUS
I’ll check the map when I get there
Run my finger along the path
Take a tour of all my snapshots
Travel log of the best spots
I'll reminisce, crack a smile, when I look back
Check the map, check the map, when I get there, I’ll check the map (2nd and 3rd time only)
V2

WOOHOO
WOOHOO
First glimpse of you in the morning lying there in the sun's rays
Shining through the window on your blonde hair that's falling round your face
I see the curve of you hips hiding under the covers
I'm a lucky man, I know, you call me lover
Gets me thinking bout how many days I wanna start to live
Just like this, but I lose my count, when
You crack those baby blues, wrap yourself around me
Your every woman I'll ever need
I'm always up for a little woohoo, with you
That's what me and you do, when we get together, woohoo
When we make love a our kind of perfect, you wanting me, me wanting you
For what we do, woohoo, wooooohooooo
All I want to say or do when I'm with you...woohoo
You got it going on, yeah you're more than a set of legs
I love your body, but baby I'm in love with what's inside your head
Last night you took me down in a heated game of scrabble
Then took me up to bed, for my kind of late night battle
Smile, kiss, talk, hold me, repeat, everyday, every night, eternally
I'm consumed into you and all I want to be, is with you baby

CATHY B
Cathy B
Verse 1
First time I saw her in those cut off jeans
Was out on the sand at Huntington Beach
Had her zipper down with the top button loose
Her a pink bikini was peeking through
Shimmied her hips, tugged those shorts to the ground
Caught me looking when she turned around
Those perfectly green eyes calling me to her
Blonde hair falling down on her Johnny Cash T-shirt
Chorus
Seventeen, summertime before senior year, in our own romantic comedy
Anything, that’s what I’d do for her, wrapped up in that living fantasy
She carved her name in me like on an old oak tree
Cathy B, she will always be a part of me, Cathy B
Verse 2
Thought I’d be lucky to steal second base
But I was hitting home runs like Willie Mays
Three months together, running wild, chasing whatever
Found a treasure trove of memories to last forever

Sitting here on my porch swing
Wishing I could go back to...(seventeen)

My best friend gave me her phone to see
A text from you asking 'bout me

Then handed it back like a big mistake
Think you're misunderstanding this situation
Well, I guess I need to tell you one more time.…listen

Put it where the sun's never gonna shine in
I'm done and don't wanna second look
Thinking you're gods gift to women
Pushing me way past my limit
I'm not getting back on that itty bitty hook
This is my do over not yours
This is my do over not yours
This is my do over not yours
Betcha think I need you in my life
Must admit I'm not surprised

BREAK ME
Break Me
When I feel I'm about to break and all I want is the pain to end
I'm comforted by a sudden thought from the outside in
Through suffering he is showing me just how far I can bend
Before He divinely prunes me, so I can bloom again
Chorus
When I'm at the Master's hand I know I'm never forsaken
God has a way of giving me life when it seems like He's taken
Put myself in a ready state, down on my knees prayin'
Oh Lord, won't You, break me
He makes me whole despite my sins, when it seemed like I was falling apart
Yeah, clinging to those worldly things, building my own house of cards
Always a chance of it collapsing in meant another brand new start
And when I grew weary he was standing so close why did it feel so far
Chorus
Bridge
Built up and broken, grown and renewed
Upon the strong foundation of His truth
My soul was searching where my will was weak
And in Him I found my peace

SHUT DOWN HEAVEN TONIGHT
Shutdown Heaven Tonight
V1
Grandpa sang her favorite hymn
As grandma lay there listening
The family all gathered by her side
To celebrate a life well lived
Say goodbye, reminisce
Everyone trying not to cry
Then he slipped his hand into hers
Said a different kind of prayer in his own kind of words
Chorus
If I could fly I’d close the gates
Tell St Peter, he’d have to wait
Let him give the angels a little time off
One more day with her is all I need
God, please don’t get mad at me
For asking you to shut down heaven tonight
V2
Such an honest desperate prayer
All of us who were standing there
Couldn't help but wish this would come true
Fifty years, not a day apart
Through good and bad, they’ve come so far
He said everyday with her felt brand new
Their love showed us how it oughta be
No one knew it more than that man upon his knees, praying
Repeat Chorus
Bridge
The next morning Grandma drifted off like she was sleeping
But through the tears in Grandpa’s eyes, I knew what he was thinking

SLOW
Slow
We’ve been here before, second time around
You learned to forgive, I put the bottle down
First try was a whirlwind, so much we didn’t know
Now you’re whispering in my ear let’s take it slow
I’ll take it slow - when our lips are so close you can taste it
I’ll take it slow – when the heat from our touch overtakes us
You’re all I want, you’re all I need
I’ll take it slow
It’s the way that you move me when you walk in a room
You’re the dance in my heart, you’re the light of my moon
This was all I could hope for, just one more chance
To give you I can love you like a storybook romance
I’ll take it slow - when our lips are so close you can taste it
I’ll take it slow – when the heat from our touch overtakes us
You’re all I want, you’re all I need
I’ll take it slow
LEAD
I’ll take it slow - when our lips are so close you can taste it
I’ll take it slow – when the heat from our touch overtakes us
You’re all I want, you’re all I need
I’ll take it slow
You’re all I want, you’re all I need

HURT OUT LOUD
"Hurt Out Loud"
(v1)
I always thought being tough
Meant keeping things bottled up
Never let them see you cry
Or show what’s going on inside
(Pre-Chorus 1)
You make it easy to drop my guard
Cut the barbed wire around my heart
(Chorus)
I'm learning how to hurt out loud
Since you knocked my walls down
Exposed all my feelings
It goes against everything I've known
Such a sweet release to let it go
I am finally seeing
Girl, look at where you've got me now
I'm learning how to hurt out loud
(v2)
Now I know I don't have to be
The only one who carries me
Through the tough times in life
Trusting in you feels so right
(Pre-Chorus 2)
The cold and lonely I called truth
Was getting hard to hang on to
(Repeat Chorus)
(Bridge)
You’re teaching me its ok to show love
Cause being tough is opening up
(Repeat Chorus)

GOING HOME
GOING HOME
Got the call said you might want to be
Coming soon if you want to see
Your daddy one last time before he leaves
So many years, I've been away
So many miles, separate
Completely broken hearted, I make my way
Going home to say goodbye
To the man taught me to live in grace
Always said get out there make a lifetime
Of no regrets cause dreams are there to chase
He's headed to his final home and I'm here
To say goodbye, daddy goodbye
Thinking back on all he did
Made me strong in how I live
A humble soul who showed me how to give
His gentle smile so comforting
Loved to learn, loved to teach
Seemed to know something about everything
By his bed, held his hand as he gently slipped away
He’s headed to his final home and I’m here
To say goodbye, daddy goodbye

MAMA MADE ME A BELIEVER
MAMA MADE ME A BELIEVER
Long as I remember, my mamas been telling me
Do your best, forget the rest, it'll get you where you need to be
When you don't know which way to go, son, follow your gut
It's your life, you only get one, make it something you're proud of
When life knocks you down, get back up, give it one more try
You can do whatever you choose, so choose to do it right
CHORUS
Mama made me a believer
One of those, you can do anything if you set your mind to it men
She had a way of making me believe her
When I said I can't, she looked me in the eyes, said, yes, you can
Mama made me a believer
Made me believe I could be a better man
Looking back I realize how much her words meant to me
How they changed who I am and who I'm going to be
Now I'm passing those words along to a little one of my own
Still hearing mamas voice in my head, from so long ago
When life knocks you down, get back up, give it one more try
You can do whatever you choose, so choose to do it right
Repeat Chorus
Every night when I lay my head on the pillow I ask myself
Did I do all I could today, to be my best
Mama made me a believer
Made me believe I could be a better man, yeah a better man

BLACK WIDOW LOVE
BLACK WIDOW LOVE
I got caught in, the web of lies you were spinning
You wound me up to stop me thinking
Must have been a spell, you cast upon me
Cause I've been, acting like a fool with benefits
To you the queen of stealing innocence
Took that part of me that made me want to believe
There was something more to you than the only thing you need
To satisfy your fantasies like every man is a piece of meat
For your black widow love, yeah that black widow love
Mesmerizing in that dress you were disguised in
Underneath it you were hiding
A red hourglass I could not see, cause
I was blinded, in the moment and the madness
Yeah, in the power of your passion
Took that part of me that made me want to believe
There was something more to you than the only thing you need
To satisfy your fantasies like every man is a piece of meat
For your black widow love, yeah that black widow love
I been looking high, I been looking low,
For the get up to get, get outta here, but you ain't letting go
Eyes that hypnotize, gonna take control
Got one last chance, if I just don't glance, your way, I'll make the door
And break free, break free, break free, got my hand on the knob, oh my god
I've been sighted like a man, now I'm running
Like a flash, fast as I can
There's no way I'd ever make it through another
Night with, who you are and survive it
Escaping was my only option
Took that part of me that made me want to believe
There was something more to you than the only thing you need
To satisfy your fantasies like every man is a piece of meat
For your black widow love, yeah that black widow love
Adlib and out

WHAT THIS LOVE IS
WHAT THIS LOVE IS
Verse
Never felt like this before
I always had one foot out the door
Ready to give one more
Last goodbye
Thought I'd be living on my own
Like a lone wolf, out there all alone
Until you came along
Tamed my wilder side
Chorus
Tried to keep you from getting in
Scared of this you and me happenin’
These feelings buckled my knees
Now I’m thanking God for helping you see
Beyond the man I was then
To who I am now, I cannot live without
What this love is
Verse
Every night you lie next to me
Pull me close, drift off to sleep
I feel you breathing
As I close my eyes
Think of your touch, taste of your kiss
Love the way you love, a perfect fit
Amazed at how we click
Stirs me up inside
Bridge
If this is really what love is, it’s everything I always feared
But everything I’ll ever need is what we have here
Chorus and out

WHISKEY'S WOMAN
WHISKEY’S WOMAN
I smell the whiskey on your breath
You tried to cover up with a couple of mints
This ain’t the life that you’ve always led
But I’ve spent my last night with your never again
I ain’t gonna be WHISKEY’S WOMAN
But when I’m with you I’m whiskey held
I don’t want to see your life get wasted
Lookin’ through an empty bottle of not yourself
You’ve got to go cause I ain’t gonna…be WHISKEY’S WOMAN
I wiped your brow from a fifth to nothing
And walked with you 12 steps, as you walked backwards
Tough love might help you change, but not my loving
So it’s over til your sober and moving forward
I ain’t gonna be WHISKEY’S WOMAN
But when I’m with you I’m whiskey held
I don’t want to see your life get wasted
Lookin’ through an empty bottle of not yourself
You’ve had to go cause I ain’t gonna…be WHISKEY’S WOMAN
It’s been about two years, and now you’re standing here
Knocking at my door
And I see behind your tears, the man I once held so dear
The man I loved so much before....yeah, before I said
I ain’t gonna be WHISKEY’S WOMAN
But when I’m with you I’m whiskey held
I don’t want to see your life get wasted
Lookin’ through an empty bottle of not yourself
But now the man I’ve always wanted,
Is in my arms and I ain’t gonna, again be WHISKEY’S WOMAN

ONE MORE LULLABY
ONE MORE LULLABY
Standing in a cold, cold rain that chilled us to the bone
I’ll always remember that day, we had to let you go on
Home to be with the Father, where you could sing your heavenly highs
Like you did for our daughter and me, before the sickness was too much to fight
I told our girl you had gone to be, with the angels up in the sky
And she said I know mama’s one of them and I hope she can fly
Daddy do angels really have wings and can they fly
Do their voices ring out in heaven to God, each and every night
And if I pray real hard and ask God real nice
Do you think He’d let my mama fly down and sing me to sleep with ONE MORE LULLABY
Every day our little girl becomes more and more like you
Tries to comfort me when I’m trying to hide the truth
I tell her it’ll be ok as I bend down to kiss her goodnight
Just like you, she sees right through me, I think she’s reading my mind
She takes my hand pulls me to my knees, our elbows resting on those Barbie sheets
And she says Mama will come in your dreams, if you’ll pray like me
God do angels really have wings and can they fly
Do their voices ring out in heaven to You, each and every night
And if I pray real hard and ask You real nice
Do You think You’d let my angel fly down and sing me to sleep with ONE MORE LULLABY
As she drifts off the sleep, I reflect on what used to be
And find a familiar peace, when I hear you sing, just
ONE MORE LULLABY

LAST SECOND CHANCE
LAST SECOND CHANCE
Found a note on the door, she'd written thinking ‘bout you
Call me if you feel the same
Last time I saw her she was leaving again
But once again something has changed
Gave her a call, she asked how have you been
I said I'm lost and confused
Cause you keep finding your way back to me
I keep falling for you
I am prayin’ this time is the right time
I know love ain’t easy to do
Here’s your last second chance to find what was missing
From the last second chance I gave you
Here’s your last second chance -- it’s all up to you
My friends say I'm crazy and maybe that's true
But I'm not so good on my own
So I'll take crazy, cause together we're better
That's why I never let go, still I really want you to know
Chorus
Every day when I wake up beside you
Is a yesterday that came true
Cause every day...
I am prayin’ this time is the right time
I know love ain’t easy to do
Here’s your last second chance to find what was missing
From the last second chance I gave you
Here’s your last second chance to show your love for me
I’ll make love easy for you
Here’s your last second chance --
Here’s your last second chance -- it’s all up to you

ALL IN
All In
Six years old in that little red wagon,
Swim goggles on, the handle draggin’
Behind me, as I was flying down road rash hill
The wind in my hair, thrill in my heart
The pain I felt, when that ride fell apart
I was tumbling, loving every second, falling head over heels
I always hitch myself to a shooting star
On a wish and a prayer, cause I like to play hard
Livin’ on the edge, won’t hesitate or hedge,
I like that tinglin’, under my skin, here goes
I’m all in, oh yeah, I’m all in
I’ve done some free climbing at Yosemite
Been hang gliding, above the redwood trees
I was born dang bold with breakneck nerves of steel
Then I met my match in that daredevil girl,
Bungee jumping, bounced her into my world
We were tumbling, loving every second, falling head over heels
Adrenaline, it’s kickin’ in, we are building up speed
We’re running to the unknown, come on baby let's make that leap

FOUND ME
FOUND ME
I was searching, looking out for
Somewhere in this world I could call my own
I was hoping, I would find it
Somewhere here in this land I did not know
I was searching
For (wants, so) a part of me to be
Reconnected with the missing piece
That I never had but always hoped
Was waiting here for me
Calling me to come running
Start getting enveloped in it
The rightness and love that I feel
I thought, I was looking, but it found me
Like a magnet, drawing me in
Something here has set my soul at ease
Like an old friend, inviting me in
Something in this place fills my every need
Like a magnet
CHORUS
All along thought I'd been searching for
My direction in a life of question marks
But my true north was already there inside me
CHORUS
Like a magnet

HAND ME DOWN HATE
Hand Me Down Hate
I remember the first time I heard the N word as a kid
It came from the mouth of a red faced boy with balled up fists
When I saw how that word, touched a nerve, and the hurt in my best friend’s eyes
Shoulder to shoulder, we backed down that bully, who was twice our size...
That night I asked my daddy why that boy said what he did
He said he probably learned it from his old man, who learned it from his
Hand me down hate, is like a chain
It shackles narrow minds to generations afraid to change
But I believe love can break the links
Of hand me down hate
Now that I’m grown, the nightly news makes me ask what the hell’s going on
Someone plowed into a helpless crowd, another torched a mosque
Forty nine died in a nightclub just for flying a rainbow flag
It’s like a punch in the gut when I hear about a senseless attack
Gets me thinking ‘bout the wisdom my dad passed down to me
Maybe I can’t change this ole world, but I’ll be the change I wanna see
Love, yeah it’s love, oh sweet love
Some might call me dreamer, or a wishful thinker, but I still believe
Love can break the links, of hand me down hate

LANDSLIDE
Running Up A Landslide
My girlfriend thinks she might be eating for two
Letter from my landlord was stamped past due
The ex-wife called said, that last check bounced
I do what I can, won’t let it get me down
Work two jobs trying to pay the bills
There's never enough, man I feel, like I’m
Running up a landslide
Every step puts me further behind
If I stop, I might get buried alive
Move a little faster, push a little harder
Trying to hang on, cause I’m
Running up a landslide
My keep on going is running on empty
But my tank’s not dry so there’s no stopping me
Cause I’m no quitter, gonna stay strong
I’m charging straight ahead like nothing’s wrong
I might slip, or maybe trip and fall
But I keep on believing, I can have it all, while I’m
chorus
Nobody promised me, life would be easy
So where I go from here, is up to me

I STUMBLE
I Stumble
V1
I live my life like an old worn hat
Longer I wear it the better it sets
When suddenly you come blowing in
Completely changing how it fits
Chorus
Your kiss taste like sweet Madrone
Sonoma hills, vineyard groves
Your body pressed into mine
Swirls my thoughts and clouds my mind
Like a drunk on a cobbled road
Finding every brick and stone
Headlong, I tumble out of control
As I stumble, towards your love
V2
Your heart like a mountain spring
Forging through my rough terrain
For every inch that you gain
You never worry I'm to blame
Chorus
Bridge
I'm desperate for one more sip
One more taste of your lips

MAN BEHIND THE GUN
Man Behind the Gun
Verse 1
In a faded wooden cabin beneath some rugged pines
Joe stares at the remnants of a life he left behind
A dusty leather Bible, his daddy's ole bird gun
Fragments of a future he had soaked in rum
Chorus
Sawed off steel and wood are laying by the bed
Two demons in the chambers, devil in his head
Tonight he's gonna choose which way to run
A pathway to redemption or the man behind the gun
Verse 2
He slumps onto a pillow too drunk to feel the sting
A final swallow from the bottle he’d been worshiping
His finger on the trigger, when he hears a voice say
You can never fall below the reach of My grace
Chorus
Sawed off steel and wood were laying by the bed
Two demons in the chambers, devil in his head
Tonight he’s gonna choose which way to run
A pathway to redemption or the man behind the gun
Bridge
He opened up the Gospel to rip those pages apart
But those words in red, sent a bullet to his heart
Chorus
Sawed off steel and wood were laying by the bed
Two demons in the chambers, now Jesus in his head
On that night he chose which way to run
A pathway to redemption saved the man behind the gun
A pathway to redemption ... saved the man behind the gun

KISS ME LIKE YOU MISSED ME
Kiss Me Like You Missed Me - Mitch Collins & Bob Deyoung
Looks like a tornado came through, down the hall into the bedroom
Last night’s still a bit hazy, feels like we got crazy
Me and my girl holding each other, skin on skin, a swirl of covers
Tangled up in this scene, remembering how it came to be,
When she starts whispering...
Kiss me like you missed me, like last night
Kiss me like you missed me, one more time
A little morning passion, rolling round
Like two clouds crashing, making sounds
Creating thunder from the lightning in her words
Kiss me like you missed me
What we’ve both been cravin’, is a little more misbehaving
Let’s put the world on hold, stay in bed for one more roll
Life can wait, ain’t no hurry, one on one we got no worries
Letting time move real slow to the getting back on the go
When she starts whispering...
There’s something in the way she says kmlymm, she’s my one addiction, the one I can’t resist, when she starts whispering

SOLD OUT
Sold Out Nancy Blandford & Mitch Collins
VERSE 1
I’ve had my share of loneliness, dead end roads, missteps
But girl with you there’s only one way to go
Laying myself on the line, in the name of love, gotta get this right,
Cuz you’re worth every step into the unknown
CHORUS
Dancing on a tightrope without a net
Diving into the mystery of what comes next
Giving all I’ve got, with every breath so there’s no doubt
I’m all in, completely yours, sold out
VERSE 2
Effortless, you and me, like floating with no gravity
Together we can reach the moon and the stars
We’ve been drawn in a wonderland, painted by the master’s hand
A technicolored living work of art
BRIDGE
You’re my no limit gamble, I’ve burned every ship, behind me
I’m looking ahead ,the future is ours, all I see

OPEN THE DOOR
Open the Door Nancy Blandford & Mitch Collins
VERSE 1
Feels like I’m stuck here and the walls are closing in
I know You’ve called me, where this lonely hallway ends
I’ll keep my eyes on You, stand here worshipping
Keep on knocking, ‘til I hear the hinges creak
Until the hinges creak
CHORUS:
I will praise You in anticipation
I will praise You right where I am
Your faithfulness, is my confidence,
You know my heart and where I’ve been
So, I trust the plan You have in store, will be revealed when You open the door, open the door

I can feel Your love without having to define it
The wind in the trees show me I’m breathing Your air
Even in the silence, I know You are there

Patiently I wait, I’ll keep singing till the light breaks
Patiently I wait, I’ll keep singing till the light breaks

TRAVELER
Traveler
I cannot count the faces, but I still see the smiles
The people in the places where love and kindness survived
In my bones, I feel the traces from wearing out these miles
Don’t always know my destination but I know when I’ve arrived
I am a traveler hitchin a ride,
Through this life, to the other side
Living in the head of a man, walking in his skin,
Who I am is in the where I’ve been
Cause, I am a traveler hitching a ride
All the steps I’ve taken on the road to what’s next
Show me how the future is written in the past
In my mind, I keep finding, the pages I left
They guided me to where I am, without me having to ask
Chorus
On this journey, I’m gonna squeeze (out) every drop of hope to taste my dreams
Gonna take it all in by taking my time, only get one chance to get it right

COME HOME
“Come Home”
Verse 1:
I’ve never known silence, so loud it could kill
Till the day you left and this house stood still
Your words echo in these empty rooms
They keep telling me how much I’m missing you
Chorus:
Come home, come home
You must be tired
Out there on your own
Come home, come home
The road gets long
When you go it alone
Let go of your pride
And please come home
Verse 2:
Your welcome back, Is waiting on you
So come on by, anytime you want to
The door’s unlocked, if you lost your key
The light is on, if it’s too dark to see
When I see you I come running, I’ll meet you halfway
From where I am to where you are, please don’t wait

CLIMB SO HIGH
Climb So High
Every step I take is taking, me one move, closer to making
You so much more than some girl I once knew
Yeah, looking back I want the beginning of our future, to start right this minute
A big bang of love created when you lit the fuse
I know I got to do some stepping up
But please girl let me prove my love
I’ll climb so high, to get to you, to you, to you
In time, you’ll find, I’ll make it to you, make it through, make it through to
Being the best man I can be, all because I’m tryin’
To climb, so high, to you, to you, to you
Still remember my Pop saying, you get one chance son, don’t be a playing
When you find the one, do not let her go
Hold on tight, but not so tight you smother, her into the arms of another
If you’re doing it right, she will let you know
Now I know it was you he was talking about
When he said we marry up or down

SOUNDTRACK OF MY LIFE
Soundtrack of my Life
V1
Cicadas on a summer night
Snapping limb in a tree I climbed
The whistling of the wind as I was falling through the air
Baseball pops into my glove
Playing catch dad showed his love
He was a man of few words, but I always knew he cared
Croaking bullfrogs down by the lake, my mama laughing at the jokes I’d make
Crackling campfires for making smores, listening back on the memories I stored
Chorus
On the soundtrack of my life, plays in my head all the time
I’ve lived the liner notes, cuz the lyrics are the ones I wrote
They’re made of the ups and downs, lows and highs
Love and loss, wrongs and rights
When I hear them, sometimes I laugh, sometimes I cry
Either way, they’re recorded on the soundtrack of my life
Yeah, the soundtrack of my life
V2
The first cries my daughter cried,
When born into this earthly life
Her breathing when she’s sleeping has a rhythm and a tone
The voicemail my brother left,
The one that I forgot to check
Until the day I found out he was never coming home
The rumbling of the engine in my first truck, Lynyrd Skynyrd singing turn it up
Slamming doors when I was mad as hell, another track for this album I cannot sell
Bridge
Who I am is made up of every single sound
I can't wait to hear the next ones coming round

FAMILY MAN
Family Man
I’ve built a life of riches full of precious things
My wealth is greater than I could ever have believed
Platinum and silver and the rarest of gems
They're valuable but worthless trinkets in comparison
To the love of my children and my wife
They’re my priceless artifacts in my life
I’m a family man, the wealthiest I know
Gold runs in my veins deep into my soul
It’s kind of like I have the Midas touch
But I’m not gonna spend a dime, I’m gonna keep on saving up
Cause I’m a family man, with treasures to hold
I’m a family man, the wealthiest I know
We got one on the way it’s like money in the bank
My fortune keeps growing from interest in the ranks
Meemaw and papa are like cold hard cash
Even the in-laws are part of the stash
Fort Knox is a piggy bank compared to our home
I need something more the size of the astrodome
CHORUS

FRYING PAN
Frying Pan
Bacon grease in a Crisco can
By the stove and a cast iron frying pan
Mama fried biscuits sizzling hot
With peppered gravy to put on top
Gathered round the table, we’d bow our heads, say grace
Serving up love southern fried was her way
I wish, I had the chance
For one more glimpse, to share a glance,
Take her hand, say I love you, again and again and again,
Yeah, to stand there with mama as she cooked in her frying pan
Crispy cornbread freshly baked
Pinto beans and onions, the perfect mates

Still can’t believe she never used a recipe
While she filled me up with those childhood memories
