    Kim Jones

    About Kim Jones
After many years of being a singer/songwriter herself, opening shows for major recording artists, and having a staff writers deal (then with Combine Music), Kim decided what she really wanted to do was music publishing. Kim started her music publishing career at Hayes Street Music, working with veteran writers Don Schlitz, Allen Shamblin, and David Ball. Kim was responsible for cuts on numerous gold and platinum albums during her six-year tenure as a song plugger. While at Hayes Street Music, Don Schlitz was named "ASCAP Songwriter of the Year" for 4 consecutive years. Kim helped to contribute to Don's success by the number of major cuts she placed on recording projects.

Kim's next move up the music publishing ladder came when she removed Hamstein Music Group from the archive shelves and made it one of Nashville's most successful music publishing companies. As Director of Creative Services, Kim helped set up co-writes for the Warner Bros recording Group, "Little Texas," which unfolded into the group having a #1 hit, "Life Goes On." She then went on to sign WSIX morning personality Gerry House and pitched his song "On The Side of Angels," which proved to be a huge hit for LeAnn Rimes. Kim signed R & B artist, Constant Change, who wrote several top #5 singles for Lorrie Morgan's "Greater Need" album. During her career with Hamstein, Kim pitched "Stand Beside Me", a # 1 song for Jo Dee Messina, that stayed 4 weeks on the country music charts. Kim also signed hit songwriter Billy Kirsch. This signing helped her have a top #10 hit with Wynonna's "Come Some Rainy Day" and a CMA/ACM Song of the Year with Steve Wariner's "Holes In The Floor of Heaven."

Kim collaborated with well-known producer Byron Gallimore to start Song Garden Publishing. Kim and Byron staffed their writer staff with unknown writers, who became successful hit songwriters through Kim's leadership and teaching. Kim helped generate over eighty cuts for Song Garden Publishing in four years. Eight writers, who, through Kim's leadership and teaching, became successful hit songwriters. Tony Mullins, Holly Lamar, and Trina Harmon were just a few writers at Song Garden who wrote the following hit singles. Tony Mullins wrote Song Garden's first #1 single "John Michael Montgomery's "Angel In My Eyes." Once again Kim scored with Jo Dee Messina with a Holly Lamar song that was a #1 for #4 weeks, "That's The Way." Tim McGraw's "Unbroken" from the "Set This Circus Down album, also a Holly Lamar song, followed up the charts to #1. Kellie Coffey, a new artist on RCA records, went to #8 on the country charts with a Trina Harmon song, "When You Lie Next To Me." Other important "Hit" singles for Song Garden Publishing include Chris Cagle's "My Love Goes On and On," a top fifteen single, and "Love This Way" by Eden's Crush, another successful pop single. In addition to all the single activity, Kim helped place three songs on Jo Dee Messina's "Burn" project, as well as two cuts on Lonestar's "I'm Already There" album. Kim also facilitated lucrative co-writing situations for Song Garden writers by connecting Holly Lamar with pop superstars Rob Thomas (Matchbox Twenty), members of Bon Jovi, pop producer Patrick Leonard, and many others.
