About: 2025 First Runner-Up Top Composer Award Winner, Dave Pellegrini is a singer-songwriter and composer based in Orlando, Florida, recently relocated from Indianapolis. A longtime acoustic guitarist and pianist, he performed in a folk group in the '60s and '70s before beginning his songwriting journey in 2013.
Since then, he has written more than 150 songs, primarily in Contemporary Christian, Christian Pop, Southern Gospel, Bluegrass, and Inspirational Country. Many of his recordings were produced in Nashville.
Dave has co-written with hit songwriters Billy Sprague and Joe Beck. His song “Lay My Burdens Down” was recorded by Southern Gospel group Westward Road for their Jesus Can album, and “Forever Strong” was cut by Southern Gospel artist Jessica Ingram through Dallas Gregory at SongU. The demo of “Lay My Burdens Down” won top prize in the SongDoor Contest, earning a professional recording session in Denver.

Seeking: I'm looking for co-writers who can help bring a fresh perspective to what I'm trying to say. I'll be honest — sometimes I'm a little old-fashioned, and sometimes I don't always have the right words to say what's in my heart in a contemporary way. That's where a good co-writer can really help. Some of my older songs might need a little fresh paint. I care about good rhyming and keeping everything pointed true North. I want to write songs that are current, but still grounded in faith and truth.
My goal is to write a hit — whether that's for radio, sync licensing, or getting a cut. But even if that doesn't happen, I want to write great, catchy, singable, memorable songs that reach hearts. That matters to me. I believe in working hard on one song — sometimes two — and rewriting until we get it right. I think co-writers can bring a lot to the table.
A good understanding of the Gospel and the Bible is important, because that's the foundation of most of what I write. When I write country, I like to keep it clean and G-rated. I've written songs pitched toward artists like Dolly Parton, Trisha Yearwood, The Oak Ridge Boys, Michelle Wright, and others. It's a challenge — but it's fun.
